For the past four years, Dacia has been on a powerful healing journey to post traumatic growth. Through self-care practices like dance, art therapy, and journaling, she's not only found her own path to healing but also a passion for helping others. Dacia is excited to lead group discussions and offer one-on-one support, drawing on her personal experience to empower others navigating difficult life events, whether current or past.

A Little More About Her:
Family & friends call me Day. She loves all things travel and has visited 40 countries and 190 cities. She is very excited to now be a hotel host. She enjoys meeting new people and learning about new cultures. She is mixed with 4 races, 6 ethnicities and speaks 7 languages. An engineer to the bone who enjoys art, history, fashion, design, and music.

where is retreat?
Secluded from street view on a quiet street in the hills of Santa Teresa above the bays and beaches. casaJOMO was built in 1930 Spanish architecture which is very evident in the rustic, indoor/outdoor living experience. Beautiful hardwoods, clay tiles and white walls. Spread across 3 levels with 3 lounge areas.

Rated the safest neighborhood in Rio and home of the famous Escadaria Selaron (Spanish Stairs).
An artist district-referred to by New York Magazine as “the drop-dead-sexiest neighborhood in Rio.” Within just a block we have Bar do Gomes, taxi stand, convenience store, pharmacy with ATM, restaurants, bars, Posto de Saude.....

then another couple blocks we have ALL the restaurants, shops, bars of downtown Santa...jump on the BONDE to downtown! So bohemian, artsy and charming! We are one of THE MOST CENTRALLY LOCATED B&B in Santa!!!!!

Community Service Projects

Each day, participants will engage in group service work with local organizations focused on children, orphans, and single mothers. This hands-on volunteering will allow participants to contribute directly to the causes they care about, including tutoring children, organizing donations, and providing support to families in need.

Sights of Rio

Marvel at the Christ the Redeemer statue perched atop Corcovado Mountain, or take the cable car to Sugarloaf Mountain for breathtaking panoramic views. Explore the vibrant beaches of Copacabana or delve into the rich history of the Centro district. From natural wonders to cultural gems, Rio offers an unforgettable sightseeing experience.

We have European and/or US outlets in each room. If needed we have adaptors for use.
Santos Dumont airport (SDU) is the closest to us. About 15 minutes.

The larger international Rio Galeão – Tom Jobim airport (GIG) is 30 minutes from us.
If you are flying from a country with dengue fever, the yellow fever vaccine is required. Please verify departure country to Brazil.
Visas for US citizens, Canadians and Australians has been postponed until April 2025. Other countries of origin please verify.
Solo travelers will find Brazil to be very easy to visit. Please be mindful of flashy jewelry, large bags and heels. We are a laid back beach destination. Santa Teresa is the safest neighborhood in Rio de Janeiro. 
We highly recommend travel insurance.
Unfortunately, we only include round trip transfer from/to the airports mentioned. No flights are included. 
Our retreats are in high demand so we cannot reserve a place unless a deposit is paid. Please contact us with any concerns or questions so we can work with you and your circumstances.
We have implemented sustainable measures.

1) No one time use plastic. This means, we do not stock frigo bars with bottled water. We do however, have a large water 20L water jug in dining area for as many refills as needed. We want everyone to stay hydrated.

2) We ask guests to turn off AC, fans and lights when leaving the rooms. Let's reduce consumption to what we need.
We have hi speed wifi of around 400-500 Mbps.

Note: We do not have TVs in the rooms. TVs would cause noise pollution. We are very quiet and try to maintain a peaceful environment for all.

MOBILITY
We cannot accommodate guests with mobility issues. The villa has many stairs, and the local streets have many hills and cobblestones. Thank you for considering this before you make your reservation.

HOUSE RULES
Smoking is permitted in outside areas only. There are no outside guests allowed at any time. Swimming pool is for daytime use only.
Quiet Time between 10pm - 8am
